Inclusivity, Diversity, Accessibility & Unity = EVERYONE!!
Trinity Community Park is not just a playground for kids.
It’s not just the first ADA park in Monument.
We are a playground for EVERYONE at every stage of life!
Equipment for all abilities and EVERY BODY type
TRINITY COMMUNITY PARK is where the community comes TOGETHER
WHY? Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements are not enough; being inclusive and diverse for EVERYONE is more important. It’s not just about people with disabilities, it’s about EVERYONE enjoying and sharing the benefits of play and exploration.
Inclusive playgrounds go beyond regular guidelines, they facilitate engagement between people with and without disabilities. Playgrounds and parks are vital for community connections at every stage of life, yet most designs overlook the needs of 1-in-4 living with physical, cognitive, or sensory disabilities, autism, the medically fragile, and those who are in the aging population.
An accessible playground means that a person who uses a walking device, like a wheelchair, walker, or stroller can access and enjoy the playground.
If a playground is both inclusive and accessible, then the play activities have been selected and laid out so that someone using a walking device can engage with people of different abilities while they play. This is a place where a senior citizen and a grandchild can play TOGETHER… creating unity!
ABOUT US
Trinity was founded in 1985 in Monument, CO. Originally, the church property was surrounded by ranch land. Now, the church and its land sits among five housing developments. The nearest park of any type is almost two miles away, over a freeway, along a busy state highway which has no sidewalks. Kids in our neighborhood had no place to play. Trinity has acres of land that was not being used and we aspired to build an accessible playground suitable for all abilities. A park with similar equipment to Phase 2 is over 30 miles away. We were committed to do more! Now we have a merry-go-round for wheelchairs and other walking devices, sensory panels, a unity swing, and a unity teeter totter where people with trunk mobility can sit, lie down, and hang out in the tunnel. PLUS - wait for it - a wheelchair trampoline! Yes, you read that correctly.
The more people come TOGETHER with all their various abilities, the more people see similarities instead of differences. Trinity Community Park is designed to give our community a space for people with and without disabilities a chance to play TOGETHER. It's a space where EVERYONE can participate equally. We have created an environment that extends access, kindness, and compassion to EVERYONE, positively affecting the wellbeing of an entire community.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! We are seeking funding from grants, corporate sponsorships, and donations from the larger community to complete Phase 4 and beyond. We ask for your assistance in realizing our goals.

We the congregation of Trinity Lutheran Church, acknowledge and honor the Cheyenne, the Apache, the Ute and the Ocethi Sakowin peoples, upon whose ancestral homelands we gather. We give thanks for their presence here since time immemorial and their nurture and care for this land. We also wish to recognize and honor all our Indigenous siblings who have and continue to care for this land and call it their home.
